MindMD offers medically supervised detoxification services in a safe, restorative environment. Our flexible approach strikes the ideal balance between recovery and real life.

Walk-In Detox

While many detox outpatient providers give patients medication and dismiss them, we do things differently. We are attentive professionals who treat each person as an individual. With our extensive experience in the field, we have developed an outpatient program that offers flexible and safe detox.

At MindMD, clients can walk in whenever they are ready to get well. Care is then provided in a lounge setting with the utmost discretion. At the end of each session, clients depart and are able to continue the process in their own homes. This provides the freedom for each person to uphold their prior commitments, all while pursuing a life of sobriety.

Our location includes private access and treatment for those who need complete confidentiality and increased levels of security. Most of our guests choose a program lasting three to five business days, but there is no limit to the amount of time that they can remain in treatment. Thanks to MindMD’s unmatched protocols, we are able to modify programming on a per-person basis.

With a brand new 4,000-square-foot facility, we have a space large enough to accept new clients each day. Our capacity allows us to open our doors to more people than other centers can support. There’s no need to spend the day calling every rehab in L.A., to send countless emails coordinating treatment, or to disrupt one’s schedule for weeks at a time. Clients can get the care they need on a walk-in, instantaneous basis, whenever they are ready to get started.

What We Treat

Most of our clients choose MindMD for walk-in detox from opiates, benzodiazepines, and alcohol. Withdrawal from these substances can be uncomfortable at best and dangerous at worst.

Opiates

Detoxing off opiates can be intense and the withdrawal symptoms can be severe. That’s why most people who detox off opiates are prescribed medication such as Suboxone or buprenorphine in order to help with the symptoms. Some common withdrawal symptoms associated with opiate detox include:

  • Muscle cramps and aches
  • Hot flashes
  • Excessive sweating
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Anxiety

Benzos

Detoxing off benzos or benzodiazepines should not be done cold turkey. In fact, those who come in for benzo detox treatment will be prescribed a tapering-off process where they will have their intake of benzos slowly lowered over time until they are finally weaned off the drug completely. During this process, you can expect to experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Lack of concentration
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Seizures (in extreme and rare cases)

Alcohol

Because of the severity of the symptoms associated with alcohol detox, medication is required during the early stages of the detox process when the withdrawal symptoms are most severe. Some of these withdrawal symptoms include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Tremors
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Elevated heart rate

Thanks to our continuous medical supervision, each family can rest assured that their loved one will be monitored and protected throughout the process. We also provide individual, couples, or family therapy as needed, so that family members can develop an understanding of addiction and sobriety. From there, clients can begin to repair relationships strained by substance abuse.

Medication-Assisted Detox

At MindMD, we offer medication-assisted detox to those who are detoxing off a substance or substances where medication can help in the overall process. Many substances of abuse have severe withdrawal symptoms associated with them. Medication-assisted detox allows those who are dealing with particularly severe or extreme withdrawal symptoms to be given medications in order to help relieve some of those symptoms and help curtail any cravings they might have.

Those suffering from alcohol, opiate, opioid, and benzo addiction or abuse are more likely to undergo some form of medication-assisted detox due to the nature of the withdrawal symptoms associated with detoxing from that substance.

The following medications are typically used to help those detoxing from alcohol abuse and addiction:

  • Naltrexone
  • Acamprosate
  • Disulfiram

The following medications are typically used to help those detoxing from opioids and opiates:

  • Naltrexone
  • Buprenorphine
  • Methadone

In addition to the medication provided, therapy is also a key component of medication-assisted detox. The following therapies and behavioral interventions are often utilized during medication-assisted detox:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy – helps reprogram the brain, so it no longer thinks it needs harmful substances to function. Also, it helps identify what leads to the addiction and how to prevent future relapse.
  • Cognitive management – helps keep the person in detox and recovery motivated by providing rewards for positive changes.
  • Motivational enhancement – helps with engagement and staying motivated during detox and treatment.
  • Group therapy – group settings that are designed to help build a support system.
  • Community reinforcement approach – helps identify the reasons for wanting to get sober and find healthy ways to cope with stress and other triggers that might have led to abuse and addiction in the past.
